A baby boy was born at a maternity hospital in Kyiv that was damaged during the attack

During Russia’s massive attack on Kyiv, the city’s Maternity Hospital No. 2 sustained partial damage. Despite the damage, a baby boy was born at the hospital.

 

Tetyana Mostipan, head of the Kyiv City State Administration’s Department of Health, reported that a child was born in a shelter within the maternity hospital, which had been damaged by shelling.

During a massive ballistic attack on the capital on the night of September 24, the building of Kyiv City Maternity Hospital No. 2 sustained partial damage. Windows were shattered and doors were damaged on floors 1 through 5 on the side facing the parking lot. In addition, the blast wave affected the laundry room and boiler room, where windows were also shattered.

Fortunately, the damage did not affect the maternity hospital’s critical operations—it continues to operate and provide medical care. Despite the danger, at 2:05 a.m., amid the sounds of explosions, a baby boy was born right in the shelter of the medical facility. Tetyana Mostipan emphasized that even on such a terrifying night in Kyiv, life goes on.

There were no casualties among patients, women in labor, or medical staff. During the air raid alert, everyone was quickly evacuated to a safe location, Mostipan noted.

As a reminder, Russia launched a missile attack on Kyiv on the night of September 24, leaving two dead and eight injured.

Earlier, in Sumy, water supply was restricted following an airstrike due to power outages.

We should add that drones attacked the temporarily occupied Donetsk and Luhansk regions overnight.

As a reminder, Russia struck Kharkiv on the night of September 23, resulting in one fatality.

On the morning of September 23, air raid alerts were issued in Kyiv and several regions due to the threat of UAVs.
