In Kyiv, a man and his son set fire to his ex-wife's new boyfriend's car out of jealousy
In the Shevchenkivskyi District of Kyiv, law enforcement officers arrested a 46-year-old man and his 17-year-old son for setting fire to the car of a serviceman who is currently carrying out combat missions on the front lines. The motive for the crime was the father’s jealousy of his ex-girlfriend, who had begun a new relationship with the victim.
According to the investigation, after the breakup, the Kyiv resident decided to take revenge on his ex-girlfriend’s new partner and enlisted his son’s help. The accomplices placed a cloth soaked in a flammable liquid in the vehicle’s wheel wells, after which the teenager set it on fire with a lighter.
Law enforcement officials charged both suspects with intentional property damage by arson, a crime punishable by up to ten years in prison. The father is additionally charged with involving a minor in illegal activity.
