In Kyiv, police are investigating the death of a French bulldog whose owner left it locked on the balcony during a heat wave.
According to animal welfare volunteer Snizhana Bugryk, neighbors tried to save the dog but were too late. She also claims that the man had previously mistreated the animal, leaving it tied up outside in both freezing cold and extreme heat.
According to preliminary information, this time the owner left the dog on the balcony as punishment for relieving itself inside the apartment.
The animal welfare organization UAnimals reported that it has contacted law enforcement and initiated a parliamentary inquiry to monitor the investigation.
The police have opened a criminal case under the article on animal cruelty and are working to locate the owner.
