A new heating pipeline will be built in Kyiv for the Teremky neighborhood
Construction has begun on a new heating main in Kyiv’s Holosiivskyi District, which will provide a backup heat supply for the Teremky-1 and Teremky-2 residential areas. The project is being implemented as part of the Kyiv Resilience Plan.
According to the Kyiv City State Administration, the new heating main will create a backup heating system that will ensure an uninterrupted supply of heat in the event of a critical shutdown of CHPP-5.
Thanks to this project, the following will receive heat:
- 183 residential buildings;
- 3 healthcare facilities;
- 18 educational institutions, including schools and kindergartens.
The construction is being commissioned by the municipal enterprise “Kyivteploenergo.”
The Kyiv City State Administration has warned that some greenery will have to be removed to lay the new heating pipeline.
According to official estimates, the following actions are planned in the work zone:
- remove 662 trees, 56 of which will be transplanted;
- remove 70 shrubs, 16 of which will also be replanted.
At the same time, city officials assure that once construction is complete, the area will be fully restored, and new trees, shrubs, and other plants will be planted.
The Kyiv City State Administration emphasized that, in accordance with current legislation, the project contractor will pay compensation for the removed greenery.
The funds received will be used to create and develop new green spaces in the capital, as provided for by the legislative mechanism for compensating for impacts on the urban environment.

In addition, a meeting of the Coordination Council on Food Security was held in the capital, during which participants discussed the creation of a material reserve and the development of action plans for city services for the fall and winter period.
Kyiv has implemented only 6% of its Resilience Plan, although funds remain in the city budget for winter preparations.
The Kyiv City Council will consider amendments to the capital’s budget that provide for the return of 1.25 billion hryvnias to the city budget to implement measures to prepare the city for winter.
