On August 7 and 8, a community cleanup will be held in Kyiv at the International Center for Culture and Arts (formerly the October Palace), which was damaged during a Russian missile strike on May 24. Anyone interested is welcome to join the cleanup and restoration efforts. The team behind the GOGOLFEST contemporary art festival and the “Brave to Rebuild” charitable foundation, which is dedicated to rebuilding Ukrainian cities and villages, will also participate in the cleanup.
During the event, volunteers will clear debris, tidy up the grounds, and help prepare the venue for the festival. This year, GOGOLFEST will take place on the grounds of the International Center for Culture and Arts. The festival is scheduled for September 16–20, so the organizers want to get the venue ready as soon as possible.
All concerned residents of the capital are invited to participate. “Every pair of hands right now brings the festival one step closer. We invite everyone who cares to join us,” the organizers said.
The community cleanup will not only be an opportunity to help restore the space after the Russian attack but also to support one of Ukraine’s most famous contemporary art festivals. The organizers note that volunteers’ help will allow them to prepare the site more quickly to welcome visitors and host cultural events as early as this fall.
