On the night of July 31, a traffic accident occurred near Wrocław, Poland, involving an Audi carrying seven Ukrainian citizens. According to Polish police, the car veered off the road, first crashing into a road sign and then into a tree. Law enforcement officials determined that the driver was under the influence of alcohol. The passengers were also intoxicated.

Police spokeswoman Aleksandra Freus confirmed to BBC News Ukraine that all those involved in the accident are Ukrainian citizens. The car was carrying five women and two men aged 19 to 27. One of the female passengers was the most seriously injured. Law enforcement officials determined that she had been riding in the trunk of the car during the trip. After the accident, the woman was hospitalized with a spinal fracture.

Three other female passengers were also taken to hospitals for medical treatment. There is currently no information on the condition of the other people involved in the accident. During their investigation, police uncovered another fact: the driver was not only intoxicated but was also prohibited from driving—at the time of the accident, he was under a court-ordered driving ban.

Later, the driver’s brother arrived at the scene of the accident. However, according to law enforcement officials, he was also driving under the influence of alcohol. The driver was arrested. Under Polish law, he could face up to 12 years in prison, a lifetime ban on driving, and deportation from Poland. Police noted that the final legal classification of the case will be determined after the investigation is completed and all evidence is analyzed. This was reported by the police.
