In Kyiv, an official from the Municipal Road Maintenance Company will stand trial for embezzling over ₴500,000 in asphalt procurement
An indictment has been filed in Kyiv against the head of the municipal enterprise “Desnianskyi District Road Maintenance Department,” who is suspected of embezzling more than half a million hryvnias in public funds during the procurement of asphalt.
This was reported by the Kyiv Police.
As law enforcement officials established, the official failed to properly monitor market prices and organized the purchase of asphalt concrete mix for road repairs at an inflated price.
The pre-trial investigation was conducted by investigators from the Solomyanskyi Police Department in collaboration with operatives from the Ukrainian Security Service (USS) in Kyiv, under the procedural supervision of the district prosecutor’s office.
As part of the case, the conclusion of three contracts for the supply of products with a total value of over 10 million UAH was documented. Of this amount, over 500,000 UAH consists of unjustifiably overpaid budget funds, as confirmed by expert analyses.
The official was notified of suspicion under Part 4 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine—misappropriation of property through abuse of official position on a large scale under martial law.
The indictment has now been submitted to the court. If found guilty, the defendant faces up to eight years in prison and disqualification from holding certain positions.
Earlier, Kyiv police investigators completed a pre-trial investigation and referred the case against the head of a department at the Kyivteploenergo municipal enterprise to court.
As a reminder, employees of Kyivzelenbud embezzled nearly 5 million hryvnias intended for the fight against ragweed.
Additionally, 750,000 hryvnias were embezzled during the renovation of a sports school in Kyiv.
