A proposal has been made in Kyiv to require the installation of ticket validators and GPS devices on minibuses
A petition has been filed in Kyiv proposing to require private transport operators to equip minibuses with ticket validators, GPS trackers, and video surveillance systems, and to revoke their licenses for failure to comply with these requirements.
The author of the petition, Andriy Mashkov, proposes that by January 1, 2027, all minibuses be equipped with fare validators, GPS trackers, and video surveillance systems monitoring the driver. It is proposed that carriers who fail to meet these requirements have their licenses revoked.
According to the author of the petition, the use of fare validators will eliminate the need for cash payments to the driver while the vehicle is in motion, which should improve transportation safety. GPS trackers, he says, will allow for monitoring of vehicle intervals, and video surveillance of the driver will help prevent traffic violations.
As of the time of publication, the petition had gathered 252 of the required 6,000 signatures. There are 57 days remaining until the end of the signature collection period.
