The 19th innovative rehabilitation center in the RECOVERY network has opened in Kyiv

The 19th innovative rehabilitation center of the national RECOVERY network has opened in Kyiv. This is the fourth such center in the Kyiv region, where up to 1,000 Ukrainian servicemen will be able to undergo rehabilitation free of charge each year.

This was reported by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.

The center is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment that allows it to treat a wide range of functional impairments, including those resulting from gunshot wounds and mine-blast injuries. Innovative solutions are used for rehabilitation—virtual reality and biofeedback systems—which help restore motor functions and coordination.

Patients receive care from a multidisciplinary team of specialists: physical and rehabilitation medicine physicians, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, psychologists, and orthotists and prosthetists. The team continuously improves its qualifications and implements modern rehabilitation techniques.

The project is also actively developing a professional community in the field of rehabilitation. Over 6,500 medical professionals have already participated in educational events, and the initiative has organized international internships in 11 European countries and the United States.

Currently, free rehabilitation assistance within the network is available in many cities across Ukraine, including Vinnytsia, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, Kyiv Oblast, Lutsk, Lviv, Odesa, Poltava, Rivne, Khmelnytskyi, Ternopil, Cherkasy, Chernihiv, and Chernivtsi. In total, over 43,000 patients have already received assistance.

The development of the rehabilitation system is one of the key priorities of state policy and is being implemented as part of the National Strategy for Creating a Barrier-Free Environment in Ukraine. The main idea of the project is to ensure that people can undergo rehabilitation without obstacles and with maximum support.

As a reminder, plans are underway in the Kyiv region to establish a rehabilitation center for Ukrainians released from Russian captivity, as well as for the families of prisoners of war and missing-in-action defenders. The facility will operate out of the “Zhovten” sanatorium in Koncha-Zaspa and will provide comprehensive psychological, medical, and social assistance to civilians, military personnel, and their family members.
