A man carrying a carbine and ammunition was detained in a residential complex in Kyiv

Kyiv police detained a 37-year-old man who was walking around a residential complex with a weapon. A Colt M4 carbine, a hunting rifle, and approximately 200 rounds of ammunition were seized from him. The origin of the weapons and the purpose of their possession are being determined as part of a criminal investigation.

This was reported by the Kyiv Police.

Yesterday, at around 11:10 p.m., the Dnipro District Police Department in Kyiv received a report that an armed man was walking around one of the residential complexes on Kakhovska Street.

Officers from Special Purpose Police Regiment No. 1 and a patrol crew immediately arrived at the scene.

Law enforcement officers identified the apartment where the suspect had entered and detained him in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. He turned out to be a 37-year-old local resident who showed signs of intoxication. The man rents an apartment in this complex.

During a search of the residence, police seized a Colt M-4 carbine, an Escort Magnum BTS12 hunting rifle, and approximately 200 rounds of ammunition. The seized items have been sent for forensic examination.

In connection with this incident, investigators from the Dnipro Police Department of the capital have initiated criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine—carrying, storing, or acquiring weapons or ammunition without the permission required by law. The penalty under this article provides for imprisonment for a term of up to seven years.
