In Kyiv, a woman swindled 700,000 hryvnias from an injured Ukrainian soldier
Law enforcement officials have exposed a 41-year-old resident of the capital who defrauded a Ukrainian soldier out of 700,000 hryvnias during martial law. The soldier was defending the country on the Donetsk front, where he was seriously wounded.
This was reported with reference to the Kyiv police.
According to the investigation, the woman took advantage of the soldier’s trust and, by feigning a serious illness, took possession of his funds. Law enforcement officials say she spent the money on her own needs.
The investigation established that the suspect created a fake account under a fictitious name on one of the social networks and posed as a seriously ill woman who allegedly needed urgent treatment and surgery in Germany. Using emotional pressure and manipulation, she convinced the victim to systematically transfer funds to her bank accounts.

Cyberpolice tracked the movement of funds and determined that the money was transferred to the suspect’s personal cards as well as to her mother’s account. The funds were subsequently withdrawn via ATMs and bank tellers.
During a search of the suspect’s residence in Kyiv, law enforcement officers seized mobile phones, bank cards, and cash totaling over 114,000 UAH, and discovered more than ten fake social media accounts that could have been used for similar fraudulent activities.
It is reported that the damages caused to the victim amount to over 709,000 UAH. The suspect spent the embezzled funds on personal expenses.
Investigators informed the woman that she is suspected of fraud committed on an especially large scale or under martial law (Part 4 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The suspect faces up to eight years in prison. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
An FSB agent who spied on defense facilities in Kyiv was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
Earlier in Kherson, the Security Service of Ukraine detained a Russian agent who was preparing a sabotage operation to infiltrate the right bank of the region.
The Counterintelligence Directorate of the Security Service of Ukraine detained a woman suspected of collaborating with Russia’s FSB. According to the investigation, she coordinated airstrikes on Kyiv’s energy infrastructure and gathered information on the movements of the Defense Forces.
