The explosion at a Kyiv postal terminal has been classified as a terrorist attack

On the morning of June 5, an explosion occurred at a postal terminal in the Obolon district of Kyiv. Law enforcement authorities have classified it as a terrorist act. 

A criminal investigation has been opened into the incident.

According to the agency, a pre-trial investigation has been launched under Part 3 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine—a terrorist act resulting in the death of a person.

Law enforcement is currently establishing all the circumstances and causes of the explosion, as well as identifying individuals who may be involved in its planning and execution.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators from the SBU’s Main Directorate in Kyiv and the Kyiv region under the procedural supervision of the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office.

The prosecutor’s office noted that investigative activities are ongoing, and details of the criminal proceedings will be disclosed taking into account the interests of the investigation.

The explosion at the postal terminal in the Obolon district occurred on the morning of June 5. One person was killed as a result of the incident, which served as the basis for classifying the event as a terrorist act under a particularly serious article of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

This was reported by the press service of the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office.
