A drunk driver in a Hyundai veered onto the sidewalk and struck a woman near Kyiv
In Petropavlivska Borshchahivka, Bucha District, a 22-year-old driver of a Hyundai Sonata lost control of the vehicle, veered off the road, and struck a 58-year-old local woman on the sidewalk.
The woman sustained injuries and was hospitalized.
After the accident, law enforcement officers tested the driver for intoxication. The breathalyzer showed a blood alcohol content of 1.23 per mille. The man was detained.
A pretrial investigation into the traffic accident has been launched under Part 1 of Article 286-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The driver was notified of the charges against him. He faces up to three years in prison and a driving ban of three to five years.
