Video: An art installation by Darnytsia on heart health has opened in downtown Kyiv

A themed installation has opened on Kontraktova Square in Kyiv, calling on Ukrainians to take better care of their heart health. It will be on display until October 25 as part of the “Check What Matters” awareness campaign, which Darnitsa is conducting in the lead-up to World Heart Day with the support of the Heart Institute of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.

The installation highlights things that are beyond our control but that we check every day: the air raid alert map, likes on social media and notifications in messaging apps, the weather forecast, and the time. It prompts us to reflect on whether we’re checking what really matters—our heart—and whether we know what condition it’s in.

“This isn’t just an installation. It’s an invitation to reflect and a reminder of what matters most—taking care of ourselves, especially during these challenging times,” notes Yaroslava Polyakova, Director of Reputation Management at “Darnitsa.” “The theme of the heart is more relevant than ever, based on the statistics. And we want as many people as possible to pay attention to it. After all, our lives depend on the health of this organ.”

According to data from the Ministry of Health and the Center for Public Health, cardiovascular diseases account for 68% of all deaths. Full-scale war and chronic stress have only exacerbated the situation. As noted by the Heart Institute, the age of those suffering heart attacks and strokes has “dropped” by 10–15 years. And 4 out of 10 non-combat-related deaths among military personnel are due to acute cardiovascular conditions.

“At the same time, 80% of these cases are preventable,” emphasizes Boris Todurov, Director General of the Heart Institute. “But the biggest problem is that many cardiovascular diseases can develop for years with virtually no symptoms. A timely checkup allows these risk factors to be identified even before a heart attack, stroke, or heart failure occurs.”

As a reminder, the occupiers have struck the Darnitsa pharmaceutical plant in Kyiv for the third time in recent days.

During their attack on Kyiv on September 23, Russian troops struck the Darnitsa pharmaceutical plant. The company confirmed the strike but has not yet disclosed the exact extent of the damage to the facility. At the same time, it is known that no employees were killed.

On the morning of September 26, Russian troops again struck the Darnitsa pharmaceutical plant. According to preliminary information, no one was injured as a result of the attack.
