Ayesha Omar tells how Momo became a Bulbulay heroine — Dawn
In Pakistan, actress Ayesha Omar, who plays one of the leading roles in ARY Digital’s comedy series Bulbulay, said that the character Momo, played by Hina Dilpazeer, was initially meant to appear in only one episode. Omar said this on the Good Morning Pakistan program, Dawn reports.
Momo’s guest appearance
According to Omar, Dilpazeer was invited for one episode as a guest actress to play Nabeel’s mother. The episode received high ratings, after which the show’s creators decided to make Momo a regular character. The image of the forgetful and eccentric Momo quickly gained popularity among viewers.
When the series began in 2009, the main cast consisted of Nabeel Zafar as Nabeel, Ayesha Omar as Khoobsurat, and Mehmood Aslam as Mehmood Sahib. Under the original concept, these three characters lived together in one apartment, and the plot did not include marriage storylines.

Change in the plot
Omar said that after Dilpazeer’s appearance, Nabeel and Khoobsurat got married, while her character became Mehmood Sahib’s wife. The characters thus formed a family around which the sitcom’s plot subsequently developed.
The actress also said that she initially did not want to work on the series for a long time because of her mother’s concerns about the role. She decided to remain in the project after Dilpazeer joined. According to Omar, Bulbulay marked its 16th anniversary last year.
