Actors Lee Byung-hun and Ha Ye-rin to voice audio guide at British Museum — Korea Herald

In London, actors Lee Byung-hun and Ha Ye-rin will voice separate parts of the audio guide for the British Museum’s “Korea” exhibition. Lee Byung-hun will also become an ambassador for the project, Korea Herald reports.

The exhibition will open on Thursday and run until January 31, 2027. It traces 2,000 years of Korean creativity — from around 300 BC to the present day — through sculpture, painting and decorative arts.

In a video address published by the museum on social media, Lee Byung-hun said the exhibition should become an opportunity to present Korea’s ancient traditions, history and culture, as well as strengthen cultural exchange between Korea and the United Kingdom.

Paintings from the Lee Kun-hee collection

Among the exhibits will be the folk painting “Tiger and Magpie,” created approximately between 1800 and 1900. It humorously depicts a tiger and a magpie, a common motif in Korean folk art. According to Lee Byung-hun, the work also contains a satirical interpretation of the era in which it was created.

Another key exhibit will be Jeong Seon’s ink landscape “Inwangjesaekdo (After Rain at Mount Inwang),” painted in 1751. The work, which holds national treasure status, depicts Seoul’s Mount Inwangsan after rain, with wet rocks and mist in the valleys.

The exhibition is based on works from the collection of the late Samsung chairman Lee Kun-hee. In 2021, his family donated more than 23,000 works to the National Museum of Korea and the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea. London became the exhibition’s third international stop after Washington and Chicago.
