The cast of *Star Trek: Strange New Worlds* talked about the experiments in Season 4

The cast members of the series *Star Trek: Strange New Worlds*—Anson Mount, Rebecca Romijn, and Carol Kane—said that the show’s fourth season features bolder creative choices and genre experiments. They discussed this in an interview with Space.com.

According to the publication, the new season has already featured episodes with prehistoric dinosaurs, a ghost ship, and a hedonistic planet of entertainment. The episode “A Case of Chiaroscuro,” set to air on August 13, is structured as a military noir story and focuses on tense galactic politics.

Rebecca Romijn, who plays Una Chin-Riley, said that the producers had more time to prepare for the fourth season, and that each episode presented the actors with an interesting challenge even at the script stage. According to her, the writers come up with ideas that go far beyond the usual boundaries.

Anson Mount, who plays Captain Christopher Pike, noted that the show’s team was able to “take bigger steps” and have more fun with the material. At the same time, he said, the season amplifies the sense of the consequences of events. Carol Kane, who plays Commander Pelia, attributed these changes to a greater willingness to take risks in the writing, acting, cinematography, directing, and costumes.

The episode “Level-Five Transporter Accident,” featuring the Muppets, is set to premiere on August 20. The actors revealed that they recorded lines for the puppet versions of their characters, and that Pelia’s puppet was the one they most wanted to take home from the set. The fourth season of *Star Trek: Strange New Worlds* is available on Paramount+.
