"The Simpsons" creator Greenie has officially announced his candidacy for the U.S. presidential election — People

Dan Greeny, the creator of the popular animated series *The Simpsons*, who has long been credited with “predicting” Donald Trump’s presidency, has officially announced his intention to run for U.S. president in 2028

This was reported by the People news agency.

The 61-year-old screenwriter and producer has become one of the first candidates to launch his official campaign. He plans to run in the Republican Party primaries.

Dan Greeny gained particular popularity among millions of fans of the animated series after the release of the episode “Bart to the Future” in 2000.

In this episode, the character Lisa Simpson becomes the nation’s leader after “President Trump” and complains about a serious budget crisis left behind by the previous U.S. administration.

After Donald Trump’s actual victory in 2016, viewers and journalists began widely calling this fictional plot an astonishing “prophecy.”

In his first official campaign video, the screenwriter appeared in a wizard’s robe and wig, ironically alluding to his own media reputation as a “prophet.”

At the same time, in the video, Green harshly criticized the modern American political system and its leaders.

“Trump, Vance, billionaires, careerists, and cowards from both parties have turned their backs on the U.S. For them, it’s about money, power, and security, but not for you,” the screenwriter declared.

He called on citizens to return to the true democratic roots.

During the presentation of his platform, the candidate emphasized the importance of restoring social justice in American society.

“In America, the government must work for the good of all. Democracy for all, accountability for all, prosperity for all. We must restore this,” he added.

Greene jokingly called himself a “self-proclaimed prophet,” then added that he has a law degree and even passed the bar exam. The main goal of his political campaign will be a complete “rejection of the politics of despair.”

The politician noted that he will run as a “progressive Republican in the tradition of Abraham Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt.”

Among his key campaign promises are support for universal healthcare, the implementation of a large-scale environmental plan called the “New Green Deal,” and the full restoration of democratic norms in the country.

The screenwriter acknowledged that he had “sometimes voted for Republicans” in the past, and his team aims to unite American society beyond rigid party lines.

At the end of his official statement, Greeny again alluded to his reputation as the author of famous “prophecies.”

“As for what happens next… you’ll just have to wait and see. Although I actually already know how it will all end,” the candidate said.

Earlier, in 2016, he explained that the episode about the U.S. president was not a prediction but served as a “warning to America” about the dangerous consequences of show politics.
