Bruce Willis's daughter talks about how her father has changed since being diagnosed with dementia — The Independent
The eldest daughter of world-renowned Hollywood actor Bruce Willis, 37-year-old Rumer Willis, has shared touching details about her father’s current health and changes in his personality.
This was reported by The Independent.
During an appearance on a popular podcast, she candidly admitted that after receiving a serious diagnosis, the action star has become much softer.
She emphasized that despite the difficulty of the situation, she incredibly cherishes every minute spent with her loved one.
“I’m so grateful that I can visit him. Even though things are different now, I’m very grateful. There’s a certain tenderness in him. He’s always been such a macho guy, and there’s something about him—a ‘fragility’—not quite the right word, but just a tenderness that maybe Bruce Willis couldn’t quite allow himself to a certain extent,” Rumer noted on the podcast “The Inside Edit.”
As a reminder, the 71-year-old iconic actor was officially diagnosed with severe frontotemporal dementia in February 2023.
This was preceded by another medical diagnosis when, in March 2022, doctors detected signs of aphasia in the “Die Hard” star.
Currently, the seriously ill actor requires constant assistance from medical staff, so he receives round-the-clock care and lives separately from his wife, Emma Heming Willis, and their two young daughters.
Rumer is the eldest child of Bruce Willis and actress Demi Moore, who were officially married from 1987 to 2000. In addition to her, the former celebrity couple has two other adult daughters—34-year-old Scout and 32-year-old Tallulah.
Although the medical community traditionally considers frontotemporal dementia to be one of the rarest forms of the disease, Rumer emphasized that the condition is actually much more common among the general population.
“It’s wild to me. So many people come up to me now and say, ‘My uncle had frontotemporal dementia. My dad had it,’” the actor’s daughter shared her observations.
She also doesn’t hide the fact that the disease is progressing, and last November she openly told fans about instances when her father temporarily loses his memory and can’t remember who she is to him.
“The truth is that anyone with frontotemporal dementia doesn’t feel very well. But he feels fine—if we’re talking about a person dealing with frontotemporal dementia, you know what I mean?” Rumer wrote earlier on her Instagram.
She tries to focus on the positive emotional moments during every visit and maintain a strong spiritual connection with her father.

Artist Ivan Marchuk explained how his paintings ended up in Russia
As a reminder, artist Ivan Marchuk saved his father from the NKVD during World War II. The Ivan Marchuk Museum still lacks independent funding.
It is also known that a court seized Marchuk’s paintings, which had been confiscated from the son of a former MP in a fraud case.
