FX will launch the series *Very Young Frankenstein*, based on Mel Brooks' cult comedy
FX has officially greenlit the series *Very Young Frankenstein*, based on the legendary comedy *Young Frankenstein* by Mel Brooks and Gene Wilder.
The project was first announced back in 2025, when it received a pilot order. Details of the plot are currently being kept under wraps.
Stephanie Robinson is serving as the showrunner and executive producer of the new series. The production team also includes Taika Waititi, Garrett Bash, Mel Brooks, Kevin Salter, and Michael Gruskoff.
Taika Waititi directed the pilot episode of the upcoming series.
The show is being produced by 20th Television.
FX Entertainment President Nick Grad noted that the new project will combine the atmosphere of the original film with the contemporary style of FX comedies.
According to him, Very Young Frankenstein will offer “a fresh take on a familiar story” with signature irony and offbeat humor.
The film Young Frankenstein was released in 1974 and became one of the most famous American comedies.
Gene Wilder played the lead role as Dr. Frederick Frankenstein, the grandson of the famous Victor Frankenstein. In the story, the protagonist inherits the family estate in Transylvania and gradually becomes fascinated with experiments in creating life.
