Eddie Vedder sings Hunger Strike with Stephen Wilson Jr. in the US — Rolling Stone

Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder performed the song Hunger Strike with singer and guitarist Stephen Wilson Jr. at the Ohana Fest in Dana Point, California, United States. Rolling Stone reports.

A duet to close the set

Wilson was closing his performance with a Temple of the Dog composition. He performed the first verse, after which Vedder came onstage and took the microphone. Both vocalists sing in a low register, while Wilson performed Chris Cornell's part, including the chorus with the line I'm going hungry.

Hunger Strike was originally a duet by Vedder and Chris Cornell of Soundgarden. The song was included on Temple of the Dog's 1991 album, recorded as a tribute to the late Mother Love Bone vocalist Andrew Wood.

Wilson's grunge influences

Stephen Wilson Jr. combines country and grunge influences: his songs include Year to Be Young 1994, and at concerts he also performs Nirvana's Something in the Way. The musician previously described his style as “Death Cab for Country.”

Wilson recorded a studio version of Hunger Strike for the EP Blankets, released in 2025. Last week, he unveiled a new song, Cornerman. It is expected that it and the working-class-themed song Gary will be included on the performer's next album following his 2023 debut record Son of Dad.

The Ohana Fest, which Vedder hosts annually, began with a Pearl Jam performance on Friday. During it, the band introduced its new drummer, Abe Laboriel Jr.
