Avi Nesher’s film Our Loves receives ovations in Toronto, Canada
At the world premiere of director Avi Nesher’s film Our Loves in Toronto, Canada, the audience gave a prolonged standing ovation. The same reaction followed the film’s second screening at the Toronto International Film Festival, The Jerusalem Post reports.
All screenings sold out
The first screening took place on Sunday, the second on Tuesday. A third screening is scheduled for September 19. Tickets for all three screenings of the film have already sold out.
Nesher called his film the story of six people who, on October 6, 2023, believed they were experiencing the worst day of their lives. The plot then follows them during the Hamas attack on October 7.
Cast and release
The film stars Shalom Michalshvili, Magi Azarzar and Yaniv Biton, as well as Daniel Gimpel and Noa Cohen. Biton, Cohen and Gimpel came to Toronto with Nesher and took the stage after the screenings.

After the second screening, the director said: “Can you believe it? Perhaps, in our own way, we have started the beginning of change.” According to him, the premiere and the second screening were held in full theaters and ended with standing ovations.
Variety and The Hollywood Reporter also wrote about the film after its debut in Toronto. According to The Jerusalem Post, Our Loves was the only Israeli film in this year’s festival program.
The Israeli premiere of Our Loves is scheduled for September 26 as the opening film of the Haifa International Film Festival. The film is set to be released in Israeli cinemas on October 15. International release dates are promised to be announced later.
