Zelensky awarded the Dovzhenko Prize to the creators of the film *Songs of the Earth, Burning Slowly*
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy awarded the 2026 Oleksandr Dovzhenko State Prize of Ukraine to the creative team behind the feature-length documentary *Songs of the Slowly Burning Land*.
The prize was awarded to the creative team behind the documentary “Songs of the Slowly Burning Land.”
Among the laureates:
Olga Zhurba – director;
Mykhailo Liubarskyi, Volodymyr Usyk, and Vyacheslav Tsvetkov—cinematographers;
Yaroslav Tatarchenko – composer.
Thus, five members of the film’s creative team received the 2026 Oleksandr Dovzhenko State Prize of Ukraine.
In 2026, the Oleksandr Dovzhenko State Prize of Ukraine is worth 200,000 UAH.
The prize is awarded for a significant contribution to the development of Ukrainian cinema.
The corresponding decree No. 935/2026 was published on the president’s website on Wednesday.
The first winners of the 2026 Emmy Awards were announced following the Creative Arts Emmy Awards ceremonies held on September 5 and 6.
On September 5, Serhiy Zhadan received the 2026 Vilenica International Literary Award in Slovenia. The award was presented to the Ukrainian writer, poet, and military officer during the 41st Vilenica International Literary Festival in the Vilenica Cave.
