V for Vendetta to return to theaters for 20th anniversary — Rolling Stone
The 2006 film V for Vendetta will return to the big screen for its 20th anniversary. Screenings will take place only on November 1 and 5. The anniversary re-release is being organized by Fathom Entertainment, Warner Bros. and DC Vertigo, Rolling Stone reports.
New trailer and video feature
A new trailer was released for the anniversary, featuring a reimagined version of Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture. It was created by Jonathan Snipes of the hip-hop group Clipping.
The screenings will also be accompanied by a new special video feature with director James McTeigue. In it, he discusses the mythology of V’s character and why the ideas of freedom and resistance raised in the film still resonate.

Plot and cast
V for Vendetta is based on the graphic novel by Alan Moore and David Lloyd. The film tells the story of the masked V, played by Hugo Weaving, and his struggle against totalitarian Britain, where immigrants, members of the LGBTQ+ community and political dissidents are forced into silence and later disappear.
After V saves Evey, played by Natalie Portman, she learns about his tragic past and discovers the truth about herself. She later joins the revolution against the fascist government. The film also stars Stephen Rea, Stephen Fry, John Hurt, Roger Allam, Tim Pigott-Smith and Rupert Graves. The Wachowskis served as the film’s producers.
