Poludnev's hit "The Midday Heat" will be performed in a new arrangement
The song “Midday Heat,” which in its day became one of the most famous hits of Ukrainian pop music and was performed by Taisiya Povaliy and Ani Lorak, is set to be given a new lease on life. This time, the song will be performed by Tetyana Goncharova.
The new version will be presented as part of the music project “Tishkom-Nishkom,” created in the format of intimate live performances. The premiere will take place this weekend.
The song’s author, Mykola Brovchenko, said that at first he didn’t want to revisit the song because of its history. However, he decided to reimagine the track and made a conscious decision not to replicate the original sound.
“God forbid we do an ‘à la Lorak’ version. Now we’ve done it in the bossa nova style,” Brovchenko noted.
For Tetyana Goncharova, this will also mark a sort of return to the stage. The singer has released two albums but has not been active in her music career for quite some time—she last performed regularly around 2016–2017. According to Brovchenko, her comeback will take place specifically with the Goncharova Project.
In addition to “Midday Heat,” the “On the Quiet” program will feature seven more songs. Among them will be a premiere song set to music by the late composer Serhiy Krutsenko. Brovchenko found an old demo version of the song in his archives, wrote lyrics to the melody, and decided to present the composition at the concert.
