Hayden Panettiere, a 36-year-old American actress, may have died as a result of taking medications purchased through a black-market dealer. According to police sources, the actress had a long-time supplier in Los Angeles who obtained prescription drugs for her, including oxycodone. The pill she took on the day of her death likely contained traces of fentanyl—an opioid dozens of times more potent than ordinary painkillers.
The Drug Enforcement Administration is currently trying to trace the origin of the dangerous drug, although final conclusions depend on the results of the toxicology report. It is known that Penetier’s boyfriend, Brian Hickerson, tried to help her with the antidote “Narcan” and handed over to law enforcement all the medications the actress had been taking. It is also known that in the final months of her life, she had serious health problems and was in severe pain.
