The cross from Ivan Kushchnyk’s Tower, which was knocked down by a Russian drone during the attack on the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra on June 15, has become one of the main symbolic exhibits at the Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC2026), currently taking place in Gdańsk, Poland.

According to the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra National Reserve, during the Russian attack, the cross took the brunt of a second drone’s strike, causing the drone to change its flight path and miss the rescue workers who were clearing up the aftermath of the previous strike near the Cathedral of the Dormition.

During the attack on June 15, 19 sites within the reserve were damaged. The Assumption Cathedral suffered the most extensive damage, with a fire destroying more than 80% of its roof.
