Ghanaian artist Aewura Arts speaks about clients who did not pay for works
Ghanaian graphic artist Aewura Adjoa, known as Aewura Arts, said that at the beginning of her career she encountered clients who commissioned artworks but disappeared after they were completed. She said this in an interview with The Career Trail programme on Joy Learning TV and Joy News, MyJoyOnline reports.
Orders without advance payment
According to the artist, at first she did not take a deposit or advance payment from clients. People sent her photographs to create a drawing, but after the order was completed, they did not return for the finished work and did not answer her calls.
Aewura Arts noted that this was especially frustrating because she spent time and her own money not only on creating the works but also on framing them.

Searching for quality materials
The artist named access to quality materials as another challenge at the beginning of her professional path. According to her, local art supplies were often basic and did not deliver the result she sought. Therefore, she had to turn to international online platforms, including Amazon, to purchase better supplies.
Drawing on her own experience, Aewura Arts advised aspiring artists to take at least half of the order's cost before starting work. She also urged them not to lose motivation because of difficulties, to learn, adapt and seek practical ways to make creative work sustainable.
