Ghanaian artist Aewura Adjoa advises artists to have additional income
Ghanaian pencil artist Aewura Adjoa urged her colleagues not to rely solely on income from creative work and to develop additional sources of earnings. The co-founder of RNH Imports shared this view on The Career Trail programme on Joy Learning TV and Joy News, MyJoyOnline reports.
Finding clients and working independently
According to Adjoa, art can provide a person with a livelihood, but income in this field is not a regular monthly payment. She noted that an artist needs to promote their work independently, find clients and make an effort to do so.
The artist supports the idea of additional work because she does not want to limit herself to one occupation. Adjoa stressed that, despite the profitability of the art business and the opportunity to make a living from creative work, she is interested in developing other areas of activity.

Business beyond creative work
Previously, in addition to drawing, Adjoa made beaded jewellery. She now runs RNH Imports with her husband: the business imports goods from China to Ghana, has warehouses in both countries, delivers clients' cargo and helps source goods in China.
Adjoa reiterated that it is important for artists to have an additional occupation.
