The Smoloskyp bookstore in Kyiv has announced a book sale following flooding in its warehouses
The Smoloskyp bookstore in Kyiv has announced a sale of all books for 200 UAH. This is due to flooding in the basement storage areas caused by a major rupture in a heating pipeline. The bookstore also called on volunteers to help clean up the aftermath of the accident and assist with resuming operations.
The cleanup and sale of the salvaged books will begin today, June 11, at 12:00 p.m. in the courtyard of the publishing house in Podil at 21 Mezhigirska Street.
“Friends, first of all, thank you all for your support. Your words, donations, and presence today have helped us greatly; we couldn’t have managed on our own. However, there is still a lot of work to be done, and we must ask you again to come today at 12:00 p.m. to help sort through what remains,” the statement reads.
Anyone wishing to support “Smoloskyp” can purchase the waterlogged and salvaged books that volunteers and staff retrieved from the hot water. All damaged books have been priced at a flat rate of 200 hryvnias.

This was reported on the bookstore’s official Facebook page.
Earlier, Minister of Culture Tetiana Berezhna shared which books she purchased at the Book Arsenal.
