A record number of people attended the Leipzig Book Fair

The Leipzig Book Fair in Germany attracted 313,000 visitors between March 19 and 22, 2026, setting a new record for the event.

According to the German public broadcaster MDR, over 2,000 publishers and organizations from more than 50 countries participated in the event. The fair’s program featured approximately 3,000 events, including book presentations and discussions on the impact of artificial intelligence on society.

Ukraine was represented at the event by a national booth and a separate program dedicated to the themes of war, memory, and cultural identity. Awards were also presented during the fair: Kateryna Poladyan won in the fiction category, Marie-Janine Kalich in non-fiction, and Manfred Gmeiner received the award for translation. The event traditionally took place alongside Manga-Comic-Con and brought together authors, publishers, and readers, serving as a space for public dialogue.

This year, 230,000 people visited the Frankfurt Book Fair in Germany.
