Spider-Man: No Way Home Got Off to a Sensational Start at the Global Box Office
The new joint project from Marvel and Sony, *Spider-Man: A New Generation*, has achieved impressive results at the global box office. In North America, the film grossed $355 million in its opening weekend, marking the second-biggest opening in the U.S. after *Avengers: Endgame* ($357 million in 2019).
Overall, it is the first film since the release of *Endgame* to come close to the $300 million mark in the domestic market in a single weekend.
International box office receipts added another $573 million, bringing the total opening weekend gross to $927 million. This result also secured the film second place among all global debuts in cinematic history. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige called the opening “phenomenal,” noting that the success demonstrates the deep connection audiences have with the studio’s characters.
The film, with a budget of approximately $225 million, received high praise from critics and audiences—a 90% “Fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes and the highest “A” grade on the CinemaScore scale. It is noteworthy that these records were achieved even without the use of IMAX theaters, which at the time were entirely reserved for screenings of Christopher Nolan’s *Odyssey*. Both films are currently on track to reach the $1 billion mark, revitalizing box office performance across the entire Hollywood industry.
