Louis Vuitton renovates Seoul store in library style

Louis Vuitton has renovated its Dosan store in Seoul, South Korea, using the La Bibliotheque — “library” — concept. The building’s facade imitates a row of vertically arranged books with monogram detailing, while visitors are greeted inside by a corridor lined with bookcases. Products are displayed on shelves and reading tables, The Korea Herald reports.

Products and personalization

The first floor features stationery, backpacks, ballpoint pens, diaries, cosmetics, bag charms and leather goods. A separate wall is dedicated to publications from the City Guide series, including a guide to Seoul. The store also has a personalization area where visitors can stamp La Bibliotheque postcards and envelopes.

The second floor is devoted to mouse pads, book and passport covers, cardholders, sunglasses, accessories and sneakers. It also displays travel-themed scarves and features a photo booth designed as library shelves.

Exclusive sneakers and cafe

Louis Vuitton has prepared two sneaker models specifically for the Dosan store that will not be sold online. One of them features a shoe charm with the word “Seoul” written in Hangul. The model comes in a Seoul Gray shade, which the brand associates with the color of the city at night. The expected price of the pairs will range from 1.8 million to 2 million won — approximately $1,350 to $1,500.

The cafe on the third floor has also been reimagined in a library style. The Library Crush Cake dessert is served beneath a book-shaped plate: guests must open and break it to reach the dessert. A representative of Louis Vuitton’s Korean division explained the choice of concept by citing the brand’s connection to publishing and the local “text hip” trend, which links reading long texts with style and taste.

The Dosan store is regularly updated, sometimes as often as every four months. The previous redesign in January was dedicated to the 130th anniversary of the Louis Vuitton monogram, when the space was styled as a hotel.
