The Marchuk Museum still lacks independent funding

The government continues to work on establishing a museum dedicated to the artist Ivan Marchuk, but no concrete results have been achieved yet.

This was reported by Culture Minister Tetiana Berezhna.

According to her, the Ministry of Culture has already conducted an audit of the museum’s legal status—it currently operates as a branch of the National Art Museum.

At the same time, there is currently no separate budget program or funding allocated for the museum’s creation.

Berezhna emphasized that the museum must be established in accordance with a presidential decree signed back in 2021.

The ministry also expects that funding may become available thanks to the implementation of the law on philanthropy.

As a reminder, the Ukrainian trident was installed on the “Motherland” monument in Kyiv in place of the dismantled Soviet coat of arms.

The National Museum of the History of Ukraine in World War II has completed another stage of decolonization by removing Russian-language inscriptions from the Soviet era from its sculpture gallery.
