Netflix is turning Monopoly into a reality show with a $2 million prize

Netflix is developing a new reality show based on the legendary board game “Monopoly.” Contestants will compete in a giant version of the game’s board, and the winner will receive a grand prize of $2 million. The show is scheduled to premiere in the fall of 2027. Netflix has already opened casting calls for those interested in participating in the show.

Netflix has announced the creation of the reality show “Monopoly,” which will be based on the Hasbro board game of the same name. Under the rules of the new project, 12 contestants will find themselves in a massive real-life version of Monopoly Town Square. They’ll have to earn money, buy property, make deals, and negotiate, just like in the classic game. The contestants’ main goal is to avoid going bankrupt and be the last player standing. After each round, those who lose all their money will be eliminated from the show.

The winner will receive a cash prize of $2 million. Netflix has already begun casting for the new reality show. The company is looking for people who are ready to put their negotiation, strategy, and money management skills to the test. Studio Lambert—a production company that has worked on well-known reality projects, including *Squid Game: The Challenge* and *The Circle*—will be responsible for producing the show.

The team of executive producers also includes Hasbro Entertainment representatives Gabriel Marano and Zachary Edwin, as well as Nia Yemo, Tim Harkort, Jack Burgess, Stephen Lambert, and Kim Murphy. The new show will be yet another Netflix project based on well-known brands and popular stories. Previously, the platform announced the reality show “The Golden Ticket,” which will be inspired by Roald Dahl’s book “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.” It is scheduled to premiere on September 23.

The board game “Monopoly” first appeared in 1935. It was released by Parker Brothers, and the rights to the game were later acquired by Hasbro. Over nearly 90 years, “Monopoly” has become one of the most famous board games in the world. Now Netflix will try to bring it from the table to the big screen and turn it into a large-scale competition for a million-dollar prize. This was reported on Netflix’s official page.
