Vyacheslav Grabovyi, the winner of "Weighed and Happy," has been reached following the shooting in Odesa
Vyacheslav Grabovyi, the winner of the 10th season of the show “Weighed and Happy,” who was hospitalized following a shooting in Odesa, has spoken out for the first time.
He thanked everyone who has been supporting him in the wake of the tragedy and shared dozens of personal messages offering words of encouragement.
He admitted that he is going through an extremely difficult time, but it is his family, friends, and fans who are helping him stay strong.
“Friends, I am infinitely grateful to you for your support. You are incredible! Words cannot express how much your messages mean to me and with what warmth I read them. Unfortunately, my situation in life is, to put it mildly, not the best, but I’m holding on. My friends, family, and followers—you are my strength. I’ll get in touch as soon as I’m ready. I love you all,” Grabovyi wrote.
Earlier, the show’s coach, Marina Borzhemskaya, shared a photo of Vyacheslav from his hospital room. Crutches were also visible next to his bed in the photo.
It was Borzhemskaya who was the first to publicly report on the tragedy that struck the Grabovyi family. According to her, the man’s parents and his brother were killed, while Vyacheslav himself is in the hospital.
The coach also appealed to her followers to support Grabovoy and help his family.
“A terrible tragedy has struck the family of Slava, a contestant on the show ‘Weighed and Happy,’ a Season 10 finalist, and the winner. His parents and his brother were tragically killed. Slava himself is currently in the hospital. It’s hard to even imagine what he’s going through right now. And today, Slava really needs our help and support,” the coach wrote.
This refers to a shooting that took place on the evening of August 29 on Akademika Williams Street in Odesa.
According to law enforcement, a 50-year-old man fired a hunting rifle inside an apartment building. As a result of the shooting, two people were killed, and another man was wounded and hospitalized.
Afterward, the shooter barricaded himself in his apartment and later took his own life.
In connection with the tragedy, law enforcement authorities opened a criminal case under the article on the intentional murder of two or more persons.
Vyacheslav Grabovyi won the 10th season of “Weighed and Happy” in December 2025. The Odessa native posted the best result among the finalists and received the grand prize—300,000 hryvnias.
At the start of the show, he weighed 195 kg and was 178 cm tall. Over the course of the show, he managed to lose 104 kg, bringing his weight down to 91 kg.
Hrabovyi explained that he had struggled with excess weight his entire life. Even during his school and college years, when he practiced kickboxing, he was significantly overweight.
Vyacheslav cited his two children—his daughter Myroslava and his son David—as his main motivation for changing his life.
On InstaStories, Grabovyi posted a screenshot of his phone showing numerous messages from concerned people.
