Two participant categories

The competition will be divided into two categories. The quiz for high school students will run from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., while the contest for foreign participants will be held from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The event format was modeled on the popular Korean high school quiz show “Golden Bell.” Participants will answer questions on history and stories related to Joseon royal burials. An award ceremony and group photo session are planned after the competition.

Prizes and registration

The winner will receive a gift certificate worth 200,000 won. Two second-place winners will receive certificates worth 100,000 won each, while four third-place participants will receive 50,000 won each. Registration is open until September 13 through the online reservation system of the Royal Palaces and Tombs Center.

The Seonjeongneung complex in the Gangnam district includes Seolleung Tomb, where the ninth Joseon ruler, King Seongjong, and his second wife, Queen Jeonghyeon, are buried, as well as Jeongneung Tomb, the burial site of the dynasty’s 11th monarch, King Jungjong.
