No Dogs in Space podcast returns with Punk 2.0 season — The Verge
The music history podcast No Dogs in Space has returned after a break of more than two years with its fourth season, titled Punk 2.0. The first episode of the new cycle is dedicated to the band New York Dolls, The Verge reports.
Return to punk rock
Hosts Carolina Hidalgo and Marcus Parks decided to return to punk rock because they believe this is the topic where their interest and knowledge are strongest. Parks said the creators wanted to cover a broader range of topics and even considered episodes about Beethoven. However, they concluded that they are best at telling individual stories from the punk scene rather than creating a comprehensive history of the genre.

Preparing the season
According to the hosts, work on Punk 2.0 was delayed by several false starts. Initially, they planned to dedicate a series to the DC punk scene and worked on that direction for more than six months. During the previous series on experimental rock, the creators also spent considerable time translating materials from German into English.
The new season began with the first part of a series about New York Dolls. The Verge writer Terrence O’Brien, who grew up on Staten Island, noted that the borough was the birthplace of the band’s frontman, David Johansen.
