Director Lee Chang-dong receives Mill Valley Film Festival’s Auteur Award
South Korean director Lee Chang-dong has received this year’s Auteur Award at the Mill Valley Film Festival. He became the first Korean to receive the honor, The Korea Herald reports, citing Netflix.
Director’s distinction
According to Netflix, Lee Chang-dong was awarded for his distinctive cinematic world and creative achievements. This is another recognition in the director’s career. Previously, he became the first Korean to receive the TIFF Ebert Director Award, a lifetime achievement honor presented at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Festival journey of Possible Love
The director’s latest feature film, Possible Love, was also invited to the Spotlights program of the Mill Valley Film Festival. The festival is scheduled to take place next month in San Francisco.
The film was also selected for the main competition of the Venice International Film Festival. Possible Love will be released in South Korea on September 23, while the film will become available on Netflix from November 6.
