Finland’s Tanssisali Lutakko venue to start concerts an hour earlier
The Tanssisali Lutakko concert venue in the Finnish city of Jyväskylä is moving concerts to an earlier schedule. Performances will begin an hour earlier than before: on Fridays and Saturdays, the evening’s final artist will take the stage at 21:00, and on other days at 20:00.
New schedule
The venue’s doors will open two hours before the performance starts — also an hour earlier than under the previous schedule. The first concert under the new timetable will take place on Friday.
Tanssisali Lutakko has hosted concerts since 1990. According to YLE News, the venue is popular among leading Finnish performers.

Audience and artists’ wishes
As YLE News reports, the possibility of moving concert start times was discussed for several years. According to Lutakko promoter Raine Pulkkinen, audience members, artists and venue staff had made such a proposal. Initial feedback on the change was mostly positive.
Pulkkinen noted that an earlier start would be more convenient primarily for working visitors, as they would be able to go to bed earlier. It should also make it easier for children and young people to attend concerts without age restrictions.
At the same time, the change may be inconvenient for people who work evening shifts, as well as for bands arriving in Jyväskylä from afar. Due to the new schedule, equipment unloading and soundchecks will have to start earlier.
