Latvia collects materials for an exhibition about Jewish chess players
The Riga Jewish Community and the museum “Jews in Latvia” are preparing an exhibition about the contribution of Jews to the history of Latvian chess. The organizers have appealed to people whose personal archives may contain materials and items related to this topic.
Exhibition about chess players
The exhibition will be dedicated to the anniversaries of chess players Aron Nimzowitsch, who lived from 1886 to 1935, Alexander Koblents (1916–1993), and Mikhail Tal (1936–1992). It will also highlight the general contribution of Jews to the history of chess in Latvia.

Materials from private archives
As LSM English reports, photographs, documents, awards, and other items will be considered for the preparation of the exhibition. Owners of materials related to the exhibition’s topic are invited to contact the organizers.
The organizers noted that materials and items submitted for possible inclusion in the exhibition will be safely returned to their owners. They are ready to consider such materials as part of the exhibition’s preparation.
