Tonya Matvienko shared rare photos with her father, Petro Gonchar
Ukrainian singer Tonya Matvienko introduced her father—artist and art historian Petro Gonchar—to the public for the first time in a long while.
Tonya Matvienko visited the exhibition “Ivan’s Ark,” which is currently on view at the Ivan Gonchar Museum. Her father personally gave her a tour of the museum.
The singer shared video clips from the museum and said that during her visit, she recalled paintings she had seen as a child.
“Few people know who my father and grandfather are. I visited the museum today for the exhibition ‘Ivan’s Ark,’ where my dad personally gave me a tour. I even remembered the paintings I saw as a child! There are things that stay in your memory and heart forever. Now you’ll know who I take after,” wrote Tonya Matvienko.
The post marked a rare public appearance by the artist alongside her father.
Petro Gonchar is a Ukrainian artist, art historian, and director general of the Ivan Gonchar Museum. He is the son of the famous Ukrainian sculptor and artist Ivan Gonchar.
It was at the museum named after his father that Petro Gonchar gave his daughter a tour of the exhibition.
Petro Gonchar and the famous Ukrainian singer Nina Matvienko were married for 50 years. They have three children—daughter Tonya and sons Ivan and Andriy.
In late 2021, Nina Matvienko revealed that she and her husband were no longer living together.
Despite this, her family history and creative legacy remain an important part of Tonya Matvienko’s life. Her new photos with her father allowed fans to witness an intimate family moment and learn more about the singer’s artistic roots.
The artist posted a video from a walk they took together and a tour of the Ivan Honchar Museum.
Earlier, singer Tonya Matvienko was the victim of an assault while riding in a Bolt taxi—the driver struck her on the head and shoulder, after which she reported the incident to the police. The incident occurred on June 30 in Pechersk around 3:00 p.m., as the artist reported on her Instagram.
