Final season of Fauda about the consequences of the October 7 attack released in Israel
In Israel, the fifth season of the series Fauda, which its creators call the final one, was first shown on the Yes platform and then released worldwide on Netflix. As The Jerusalem Post reports, the new season is dedicated to the consequences of Hamas’s October 7, 2023 attack and the theme of revenge.
The script was changed after October 7
The series’ creators, Lior Raz and Avi Issacharoff, wrote the fifth season together with the screenwriters and prepared it for filming, but abandoned the original version of the script after the events of October 7. The new story centers on members of the counterterrorism unit: Doron, Eli, Steve and Gabi “Captain” Ayub.
The season’s events begin two years after the attack. Salem, a Bedouin tracker who works with the unit, seeks revenge for the death of his son Yusuf. In the story, he tells Eli that he received a video from the home of Eli and his wife Haggit that supposedly helps identify an attacker involved in the killing of Eli’s and Yusuf’s family. Eli, Salem, and later Doron and Steve travel to France to search for a man named Maher, who lives in Marseille.

Flashbacks to the day of the attack
The seventh and eighth episodes of the 11-episode season are flashbacks to October 7, 2023. Yes in Israel and Netflix accompanied these episodes with a warning about graphic scenes of violence and noted that they can be skipped without losing an understanding of the plot of the final three episodes.
In the flashbacks, Doron and Steve set out to confront the attackers, while Eli is on duty near the border and does not manage to return to his family. In the final scene, Idan Amedi appears; he had previously played regularly in the series but did not film for most of the season due to recovery from wounds sustained during fighting in Gaza. The season was dedicated to Matan Meir, a member of the production crew who was killed in Gaza in November 2023.
