The first "Italy Unexpected" evening took place in Tallinn
On August 15, the Paavli Culture Factory in Tallinn hosted the first “Italy Unexpected” event, dedicated to Italian music, cuisine, and traditions. The event brought together members of the Estonian and Italian communities, according to ERR News.
The organizers sought to move beyond the usual image of Italy as a popular tourist destination and showcase the country’s lesser-known traditions, music, and cuisine. The event was initiated by Nico, an Italian with close ties to Estonia. He organized the event together with the local Italian community.

Sicilian musician Luisa Briguglio opened the musical program. Her performance blended the Sicilian dialect, poetry, and contemporary sounds; the music addressed themes of exile, memory, migration, and identity.
The duo Kanuteh-Zanotti also performed: Gambian griot and kora player Jabel Kanuteh and Italian percussionist Marco Zanotti. Mundial blended electro-tribal sounds with the rhythms of Southern Italy. Participants could attend master classes on tiramisu and limoncello, as well as a class on Occitan dance led by Mattia Dossetto. DJ Renno Paat rounded out the evening.
