Kalush Orchestra member Muzychuk spoke for the first time about the horrific car accident and his 10 surgeries

Ukrainian musician and member of the Kalush Orchestra, Tymofiy Muzychuk, has shared details for the first time about the serious car accident he survived in 2014. According to the artist, after the accident, he underwent about ten surgeries and had to relearn how to walk.

“I was in an accident. I was hit by a motorcycle. I was in the hospital for a very long time. I had about 10 surgeries. My leg was broken; my kneecap was somewhere up on my thigh—there was this lump there. My jaw was broken and hanging loose. I had problems because of a severe blow to the stomach. I had to learn to walk all over again. I was bedridden for a long time after the surgeries. When I’m at the beach, people still ask me if I’ve had a kidney removed because there’s a big scar there. Now May 2 is my second birthday,” admitted Tymofiy Muzychuk.

The artist noted that the tragedy he endured completely changed his worldview and taught him to appreciate life and simple things in a different way.

“When you find yourself in a situation like that, all sorts of insecurities… That’s just how it is. I had a dream of going for a run. It sounds cliché, but it’s true. That’s when all my insecurities vanished,” the musician emphasized.

According to Tymofiy Muzychuk, the consequences of the accident have stayed with him to this day, but the trials he endured became a turning point for him to rethink his life and a source of inner strength.

The musician spoke about this in an interview with Myroslava Mandziuk.
