Sixth season of Checkout begins in Israel — Jerusalem Post

The sixth season of the sitcom Checkout (Kupa Rashit), about employees and visitors of the Shefa Issachar supermarket, has begun airing on Israel's KAN 11 television channel. The series is also available on Netflix and the kan.org.il website, the Jerusalem Post reports.

In the first episode of the new season, manager Shira, played by Noa Koler, organizes a poetry slam. Employee Ramzi, portrayed by Amir Shurush, calls the event “poetry slums,” confusing the name of the format. The store employees agree to attend so that Shira will not be left there alone. The plot also features cashier Kochava, played by Keren Mor, and customer Amnon, portrayed by Dov Navon.

Comedy and horror in Widow’s Bay

The publication also drew attention to the series Widow’s Bay, which, according to its information, won 14 Emmy awards and set a record for the number of awards among comedy shows. The project combines comedy and horror, while Matthew Rhys plays Tom Loftis, the mayor of an island community in New England.

According to the plot, Loftis seeks to turn the island, known for legends about ghosts, into a tourist destination. The supernatural stories prove to be real: fog can put people into a coma, after which they wake up as dangerous zombies. The island also often loses electricity and has no mobile service.

Serpico available on Netflix again

Separately, the Jerusalem Post reports that the 1973 film Serpico, directed by Sidney Lumet and starring Al Pacino, has become available on Netflix. The film is based on the true story of a New York police officer who reported corruption at various levels of the police force. Pacino’s character confronts abuse within the department and grows distant from those close to him.
