Israeli actor and director Yossi Pollak dies at 81
Israeli actor and director Yossi Pollak has died at the age of 81. His career in theatre, film, television and directing spanned more than four decades. The Jerusalem Post reports the artist's death.
Work in theatres
Pollak was born in 1945 and began his professional career in the early 1970s. Over the years, he performed at Habima Theatre, Cameri Theatre, Haifa Theatre, Beit Lessin Theatre and Khan Theatre.
His stage works included “Othello,” “Uncle Vanya,” “King Lear,” “Of Mice and Men,” “The Story of a Horse,” “The Bent” and “I’m Not Rappaport.” Pollak received the Actor of the Year award for his work in “I’m Not Rappaport.”

Film and directing
The actor appeared in the films “The Thousand Wives of Naftali Siman Tov,” “The Silver Platter,” “Shuf Al HaPartzuf” and “A Place in Heaven.” As a director, he staged, among others, “Endgame,” “Orphans,” “Othello,” “Romeo and Juliet” and “Of Mice and Men.”
More than ten years ago, Pollak announced the end of his acting career. In an interview with Walla Culture, he said at the time that he had already fulfilled all his dreams. Habima National Theatre expressed condolences to the actor’s family and called Pollak one of the leading theatre actors who left a mark on Israel’s cultural life.
