Eight-year-old Yaroslav Antontsev from Kropyvnytskyi has become a finalist in the nationwide “Poetry for Peace” contest. This was reported by Suspilne.

His poem about peace in Ukraine was included in a collection published by UNICEF.

The boy is in second grade and wrote his first poem specifically for the contest. He worked on it for about a month.

The theme of the poem is particularly important to him—his father has been defending Ukraine since 2022.

Yaroslav learned about the contest from his mother, who suggested he give it a try.

The collection “Poetry for Peace” includes works by Ukrainian children about war, hope, and dreams. Over the past six years, more than 9,000 poems have been created as part of the initiative.

Kyiv police have opened three criminal investigations into the possible embezzlement of state funds within the “Book for Strengthening National Unity” program, which is implemented by the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy.
