ADNOC continues loading LNG despite risks in the Strait of Hormuz — OilPrice
Emirati energy company ADNOC continues loading liquefied natural gas in the Persian Gulf despite another exchange of strikes between the United States and Iran. As OilPrice reports, citing Bloomberg satellite data, on September 2 one tanker was stationed near ADNOC’s export terminal on Das Island, while another vessel was nearby.
According to the publication, both LNG carriers were operating in so-called dark mode, with their transponders switched off. Oil tankers also use this method. ADNOC has already managed to move some liquefied gas out of the Persian Gulf using vessels with their transponders switched off.
Gas transshipment outside the strait
To ensure LNG exports, the United Arab Emirates is using the market-unusual practice of ship-to-ship cargo transfers outside the Strait of Hormuz. Over the past month, three LNG carriers loaded in Qatar and the UAE in the Persian Gulf transferred their cargo to other vessels outside the strait.

OilPrice notes that this arrangement could help increase supplies of liquefied gas from the region. At the same time, LNG flows from the Persian Gulf have effectively almost come to a halt, despite individual attempts to organize exports, Bloomberg and other media reported.
Expansion of the route to Fujairah
Disruptions to oil supplies caused by the closure of the Strait of Hormuz have prompted ADNOC to accelerate plans to increase the capacity of a pipeline that bypasses this sea route. The company is building a new pipeline to Fujairah and plans to double the capacity of the existing export route to this port city, located outside the Strait of Hormuz, by next year.
Earlier, ADNOC also warned that the impact of the war on energy supplies could last until 2027.
