Debts in the energy market have risen to tens of billions of hryvnias — MP
The debt crisis in the Ukrainian electricity market is worsening, with the most critical situation unfolding in the balancing market.
This was stated by Andriy Zhupanin, a member of the parliamentary committee on energy and housing and communal services.
According to him, as of April 2026, NPC Ukrenergo owed market participants 44 billion hryvnias, while the companies themselves owe the transmission system operator 67 billion hryvnias.
Of this amount, approximately 30 billion UAH is attributable to debts in the balancing market.
Zhupanin noted that debt to residential and industrial solar power plants is gradually decreasing, but the situation in the balancing market continues to deteriorate.
Gas imports to Ukraine fell 28-fold in April.
Ukrainewill increase gas imports from Poland, according to the regulator.
